Celebrating the Strength of Rural Women

International Rural Women’s Day is celebrated annually on 15 October to honour the contributions of women in rural communities worldwide. It calls for continued investment in women’s empowerment, gender equality, and sustainable livelihoods.

The day was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2007 and first observed in 2008. It recognises the critical role and contribution of rural women, including indigenous women, in enhancing agricultural and rural development, improving food security, and eradicating rural poverty.

By supporting events such as these, POSB reaffirms its commitment to empowering women, promoting inclusive economic growth, and building resilient communities across Zimbabwe.
