POSB Honoured at ESG Awards for Transformative Community Impact

The People’s Own Savings Bank (POSB) has been recognised for its outstanding contribution to sustainable development and inclusive community support, receiving the Outstanding Financial Inclusion Initiatives & Social Impact Award at the 2025 Zimbabwe National ESG & Sustainability Achievement Awards, hosted by ESG Network Zimbabwe at the Rainbow Towers Hotel on Friday 21 November 2025.

The award highlights POSB’s practical, people-centred interventions that are improving lives in education, health, and sustainable infrastructure. A major programme behind the recognition is the Bank’s ongoing sanitary wear support to secondary school girls, delivered through the “Donate a Pad and Keep a Girl in School” initiative. This work protects dignity, reduces absenteeism, and helps ensure girls stay in class. Recent beneficiaries include schools in marginalised communities such as Binga and Masvingo.

POSB was also commended for promoting access to safe, clean water through the drilling of solar-powered boreholes in communities and at schools. These projects are aligned with the Bank’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) focus on health, education, and climate-smart development. In addition, the Bank’s landmark USD 8.7 million Solar and Starlink programme was recognised as a bold step towards closing power and digital connectivity gaps in learning institutions. The initiative is rolling out renewable energy and high-speed internet to schools, helping to narrow the rural–urban divide and promote equal learning opportunities for pupils across Zimbabwe.

POSB expressed gratitude to its customers, communities, partners, and staff for the shared commitment that continues to make these initiatives possible. The Bank remains steadfast in delivering sustainable, inclusive solutions that uplift learners and communities while supporting national development priorities.
