POSB Continues Sponsorship of the Capital Markets High School Quiz

Harare, Zimbabwe – June 12, 2025 — Harare, Zimbabwe – June 12, 2025 — The People’s Own Savings Bank (POSB) has reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment and financial literacy by continuing its sponsorship of the 2025 Capital Markets High Schools Quiz Competition, which officially kicked off today.

This year’s competition holds special significance as it coincides with POSB’s 120th anniversary, a milestone that celebrates the bank’s enduring legacy of service, inclusion, and community development across Zimbabwe.

Investing in the Future

Organized by Financial Markets Indaba in partnership with Zimpapers, the quiz brings together high schools from across the country to compete in a dynamic and educational environment. The initiative aims to equip students with essential financial knowledge and life skills, including budgeting, saving, investing, and understanding capital markets.

“We are proud to have been a sponsor of this remarkable initiative since its inception. Our continued support is not just a tradition—it reflects our deep belief in the power of education and financial literacy to transform lives and communities.

“For us, introducing financial literacy at the high school level is not just important, it is essential and aligns with the government’s education 5.0 and heritage-based curriculum, meant to prepare young people with practical life skills. This quiz competition equips students with life skills such as budgeting, saving, investing, and understanding capital markets, said David Makacha, POSB Public Relations Manager.

“Our motivation stems from a deep commitment to empowering the youth with the knowledge, skills, and tools they need to make informed financial decisions. We want young people to leave school not only with academic qualifications, but also with the confidence to embark on entrepreneurial ventures and manage their finances wisely and be able to create own jobs,” he added.
